Triskelion Grand Foundation

Posted in Triskelion International News on February 25, 2008 by hongkongtriskelions

The Triskelion Grand Foundation, Inc, the charitable organization founded by brothers and sisters based in the United States and Canada recently initiated a campaign to raise One Million Pesos (US $20,000.00) to support the Fraternity and its various programs and projects in the Philippines. To be known as the Triskelion Fund, the Foundation will provide financial assistance for both school and community-based projects in the fields of education (scholarship awards/professorial chairs), environmental management (cleanliness and beautification, reforestation) , physical wellness (medical and dental missions) and financing (loans for rural micro-enterprises) .

One Million Pesos as an initial goal might sound ambitious to some but the Foundation does not believe so. As a matter of fact, $5,000.00, representing 25 % of our goal has already been pledged by five (5) Board Members to jump-start the fund-raising campaign because we are convinced of the rationale and justification for this effort and the impact it will generate to elevate our Fraternity to the next higher level. It is about time that we show the world who we really are and what we are made of as a Fraternity.”

If you will add the $2,900.00 that has been collected in previous campaigns and held in trust by the members of the Foundation, we are on track to secure $7,900.00 or PhP 395,000.00, which makes up 40 % of our goal, by the end of January 2007.

All bona-fide members of the Tau Gamma Phi, Tau Gamma Sigma and Triskelion Youth Movement in the United States and Canada are automatically members of the Foundation. However, in order to maintain their membership in good standing with voting rights, benefits and other privileges, they will have to share their annual membership dues initially set at $100.00. We are confident that we will be able to secure or even exceed the remaining $12,100.00 or 60% of our goal because it will take only a minimum of 121 Brothers and/or Sisters who will step forward and commit to this endeavor. $100.00 is just equivalent of $8.33 per month or $2.08 per week, a small amount of sacrifice in exchange for being a partner in this project which we are convinced will have a great impact in the lives of students in the schools and people in the communities we serve.

In a tele-conference held December 30, 2006 and participated in by 13 Board Members, the Foundation also decided to issue a statement expressing all-out support to the Triskelion Global Coordinating Council (TGCC).

The Foundation strongly believes that the TGCC is the only entity in the Philippines capable of coordinating and implementing the reunification, reorientation and revitalization efforts of the Tau Gamma Phi. We share the vision of the three Founding Fathers Rod, Roy and Talek for a united, reformed and stronger Fraternity and their unequivocal support for the TGCC. We also recognize the support for TGCC of majority of Triskelions here in the United States and Canada, in the Philippines and all over the world.

The Foundation also recognizes and commends Bro./Gov. Raffy Nantes (NU 1974) and the rest of the TGCC team for their tireless efforts and selfless sacrifices the past four years. It is about time that we rally behind them and support them in order to hasten their efforts.

The Foundation also denounces in the strongest possible term any, selfish, ill-motivated, deceptive and desperate attempt by any individuals or group of individuals to further delay, derail, disrupt and undermine the difficult tasks of the TGCC. The Foundation enjoins all Triskelions not to promote, encourage, support, assist and participate in such attempts and to exercise everything in their power to prevent such individuals or group of individuals from pursuing or attempting to further divide and rule the Fraternity.

The following comprise the Board of Directors:

CORONA, California – The only worldwide fraternity founded in the Philippines with over 500,000 members, the Tau Gamma Phi, also known as the Triskelions Grand Fraternity, concluded a three-day international summit here on January 11-13, 2008 — where regional heads participated in electing interim sets of officers for the North America Council and the International Council to foster the unity and growth of the organization.
Roy Ordinario one of the founding fathers of the fraternity in 1968 said, “my participation in this event is to serve as a guide, and not impose control on the management of the fraternity. I have confidence in our Triskelion leaders to pave the way towards progress,” he said. ” We should continue advocating unity, and for everyone to excel in their chosen fields of endeavors in the countries they now reside.”
The elected interim officers in the International Council are Dr. Alfred Fajayan, president; Dr. Tony Anastacio and Ted Mogol(UST 1973), vice presidents.
The North America Council will be headed by Atty. Jojo Karagdag, president; Roy Samano, and Art Liguidliguid, vice presidents for internal and external affairs.
Other countries will soon have their council officers that will be elected by their respective regional leaders.
The international summit was hosted by the fraternity’s Southern California Region headed by Manny Bordaje(UST 1986), and was coordinated by the Los Angeles Chapter’s president, Yammy Paredes(UST 1986).
The confab was concluded by Atty. Ramoncito Ocampo, president of the Triskelions Grand Fraternity Foundation with a strong statement, “sa pagkakaisa, wala ng atrasan ito (to unity, there’s no turning back)!”
The fraternity was founded in the University of the Philippines on October 4, 1968. Chapters were later organized in other schools.
Today, the Triskelions Grand Fraternity has formal regional organizations and chapters all over the world, composed of alumni who are productive members of society, entrepreneurs, politicians, and professionals.by: Emerson Quinto

Triskelions in Calgary

Posted in Triskelion International News on February 25, 2008 by hongkongtriskelions

With nothing more than a phone, a telephone number and name from Yvette, our Triskelion Worldwide database keeper, Manny and Alan found each other for the first time. For these two brothers, it was easy to connect with an unknown Triskelion while visiting places around North America. In Edmonton, landing just a few days in Canada as an immigrant, Manny met Bro.Joey Talens from PMI, who welcomed him warmly at the first meeting.

It is now time to set up the Tau Gamma Phi in Calgary. In the home of Alan in November 15, 2004(TGP Calgary Founding Date), they met and immediately bonded. Common experiences, common friends, common Triskelion past brought two people to start a new beginning. Then came Bro.Bayani Del Rosario(UP ‘87) who similarly invited the two in his home in May 2005.

Donnie (TYM 92) a recent immigrant, again through the web network, likewise discovered his old family in 2005. This handful of men continued to search and to welcome more brothers and sisters with the Triskelion spirit in Calgary. Moy (Sta Catalina 92), who came to Calgary 15 years ago, married and is raising a young family was excited to know that he has Triskelion brothers in the city.

Calgary was now in the radar of fellow Triskelions. Tau Gamma Phi Calgary was honored to welcome their first guest to visit them – Paeng (UP) from Vancouver who came with his family. It was a short celebration but intense and full of fun (and food) in the summer of 2006

Odie (TYM 91)also a Calgarian for 15 years was joyfully surprised to meet his brothers in 2007.

Sis Marinelle Arlantico(Arellano U.) was the first sister. She joined together with the younger batch like Jeck , Mackie , RJ and Jai . And so these people gathered for the first Anniversary celebration in Calgary in October 4, 2007.

There are more brothers who have called Calgary home for more than 20 years – like Nestor and a few more to be “re-connected”.

The family of Tau Gamma Phi Calgary, by end of 2007, grew even more with – Dennis , Jane , Vance , Kirby ,Dorian , Marlo , Yvette , Ric , Ronnie , David & Irene .

Calgary , a thriving and growing city, is expected to be home for more Triskelions in the future. All are welcome. That is how they keep warm here.
